Northtown Dental Centre Covid-19 Action Plan

At Northtown Dental Centre our paramount concern has always been the safe and comfortable delivery of quality dental services to you and your family.

In response to the emerging risks of the novel coronavirus, we have implemented a number of changes to our physical office premises to maximize the safety of patients and staff. These include:

Installation of a Dedicated Fresh Air Ventilation System.

The LIFEBREATH Indoor Air System (ERV 170) introduces fresh outdoor air directly into each of our dental operatories continuously during your appointment.

Installation of an Ultraviolet Air Sanitizing Light Into Our Central HVAC System.

SECOND WIND 2000 Series HIGH-INTENSITY GERMICIDAL LIGHT (Installed October 16, 2020)

This ensures all circulated air in the office passes through the Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation light, effectively killing virtually all spore, bacterial and viral contaminants including the novel coronavirus.

Installation of Air Purifiers in Each Operatory and Waiting Room.

Waiting RoomJASPR –AIR PURIFIER

These units are effective and efficient at removing 99.97% of microscopic allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, helping to circulate purified air in the office.

OperatoryJADE AIR PURIFIER by Surgically Clean Air

There are six stages of technology used in the Jade Air Purifier.

1)  The Pre-filter filters large visible and invisible particles

2) The high-efficiency HEPA-Rx filter filters 99.998% of all particles to 0.1 microns.

3) The Activated carbon filter absorbs odours, chemicals and gases.

4)&5) The Photo-catalytic stage/Germicidal UV light:

These chambers break down residue from destroyed organic VOC’s, and kill bacterial and viral organisms.

6) The Revitalizing Negative Ion Chamber:

Before the pure, clean air is circulated back into the room, the air is revitalized with negative ions. Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness and decreased drowsiness.

Introduction of the Duramax Extraoral Suction System in Our Hygiene Operatories

These units function as air cleaners by helping to remove airborne microorganisms and particulates from the air, aerosols and droplets generated during the use of ultrasonic instruments and high-speed drills. The centrifugal fans of the unit draw air through the suction hood (intake)→ It then passes through the Primary Filter, secondary filter, HEPA filter, activated carbon filter and the UV-C lamps. The purified air is then released through the bottom of the unit.

WELCOME BACK!!

Dear Patients,

Life has been anything but normal this spring and we sincerely hope you and your family are in good health.  We are happy to inform you that we are now able to once again provide dental care for you and your family.  The Ministry of Health has lifted the restrictions placed back in March.  While many things have changed since then, one thing has remained the same:

Our Commitment to Your Health and Safety.

Our office has always followed strict infection control.  With the emergence of the novel coronavirus, our protocols have been updated, incorporating the latest recommendations from the RCDSO, ODA, and Public Health Ontario. We have enhanced and intensified our sterilization and disinfection procedures throughout the office.  Coupled with physical distancing and good respiratory hygiene practices, we will ensure the safety of all patients and staff during this pandemic.  When we see you at your next appointment, things will be a little different.

We will ask you some screening questions on the phone before your appointment to confirm your health status prior to attending the office.
When you arrive you will be asked to wait outside the office or in your car and call us. We will call you back and let you know when you can enter.
We ask that you enter the office wearing a face mask or face covering, stop at the triage desk, reaffirm your health status, use hand sanitizer and have your temperature taken (contactless infra-red thermometer).
Waiting room times will be minimized and the area will be set up to promote physical distancing. We will no longer offer magazines or children’s toys as these items are difficult to disinfect.
Appointments will be spaced out to allow physical distancing between patients. That might mean less flexibility for scheduling your appointment, but it will reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
You may be surprised that we’re wearing more protective gear- such as masks, face shields, glasses/goggles or gowns.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.  We value your trust and loyalty to the office and will make every effort to ensure continuity of care for you and your family!!
