Dental Implants in St. Catharines

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a special, biocompatible fixture that is placed in the jaw and used to support restorations like crowns (one missing tooth), bridges (2, 3 or more missing teeth) or dentures. Dental implants are an excellent solution for patients missing one or more teeth, or for those patients who are unhappy about having to avoid certain foods because of loose or ill-fitting dentures.

The entire dental implant process usually requires two or three visits over a period of about six to twelve months. During the first visit, the implant is placed in the jaw and allowed to integrate into the bone (to achieve strength and stability). Once sufficient healing is achieved, the post and custom-made replacement crown, bridge or denture is placed. Because dental implants are permanently fixed in the jaw, they offer patients a renewed confidence that comes from having a healthy, beautiful smile while providing a form and function that most closely resembles natural teeth!
